Kajal IV is a celebration of nomadic exoticism, echoing the wilderness of the African Savannah. Created by Kevin Mathys in 2023 with a 25% concentration, Kajal IV is the dark counterpart to Kajal III, trading citrus freshness for leathery, exotic warmth.
The opening is immediately distinctive. Davana, cardamom, cassis, and rum create an intoxicating, slightly boozy introduction that feels adventurous and untamed. Davana adds a fruity, almost jam-like quality that is rarely encountered in mainstream perfumery, making Kajal IV feel genuinely unique from the first spray.
The heart ventures into wild territory. Jasmine, leather, and palm flower combine in a composition that evokes open plains, warm winds, and the raw beauty of untouched landscapes. The leather is smooth rather than harsh, complemented by jasmine's sweetness and the unusual, tropical quality of palm flower.
The base is rich and enveloping. Kholas dates, musk, wood notes, and vanilla create a gourmand-leaning dry down that is both exotic and comforting. The date note is the standout here, a rarely used ingredient that adds a caramelised, honeyed sweetness unlike anything in conventional perfumery.
Kajal IV is an autumn and winter powerhouse, built for evening events, date nights, and formal occasions where bold, adventurous fragrances make the strongest impression. Longevity stretches to eight to twelve hours with heavy sillage. Available exclusively in Australia at Khrisha Perfumery.
